Triangle Banner Saga - Finally Done & Almost Ready To Send Off!

Well. The good news is that the Triangles, Parte Deux, are done. I still need to add "my" letter - which is an "i" (one of the 'i's in creativity). I will print the letters, paint them & then send them along with the triangles. The recipient can add my choice of letter style or not as they desire. It will be fun to have the banner hanging. I am happy that I made the deadline. I had a real blocking issue going on about making the second set of these triangles- after realizing my error with the first round of sun faces. It was a frustrating time for me until I gave myself "permission" to take it slowly and to make each one the way I wanted it to be. I had cut down two of the early triangles in the second set (due to another kerfuffle) & originally had planned to send those along - since others had done the same thing. I finally realized that I did not like them - and so I made yet another pair to replace those shorties. I feel better now that I pretty much like each one that I made. I kept a sun face for myself - for inclusion in my personal banner-to-be. My triangles are made of hand dyed white on white fabric with hand painted circles. Circles are very important to me and I use them in a lot of my work. They define my life so well. I find that a completed life circle is a blessing that allows for another to begin to take shape. As the Carole King's song says"...my life has made a (circular) tapestry of rich and royal hue....". The exceptions are the two triangles in the photo below which are made from cotton lame on the left and silk on the right. The triangles are backed in out of date maps - both flight and road - as well as some mulberry paper for the silk one. I enjoyed practicing making Dorset buttons for the bottom embellishments and used thin metallic braid, embroidery floss, velvet riboons and beads. Phew!

Now I feel that I can finally get to work on the other things I want to get too: felting projects, my February TIFC piece, a baby quilt for new arrival Blaise, and a bed quilt (which is at least started!) for our dear Auntie.

Your buttons are a perfect embellishment for these. They all look really cool photographed together in that first photo.

These are wonderful, Marie, and the dorset buttons finish them off so well. I love the subtlety of the colours too.

I too love circles and find them sneaking into most of my work. I love the photo of the gazania, it would certainly add some color to a grey day.

Your Triangles are wonderful. The buttons on the bottoms really finish them off nicely. I was also glad to have mine done and will have them in the mail tomorrow. Now on to my new "Embellisher".
