Meet Epley

Meet my new best friend Epley! He is the first of what I plan to be a crowd of crows. Epley is hand made, needle felted using merino wool. I formed his body by building up layers of wool on a wool base. I had to figure out how to make his parts as I went along & am quite happy with the results. There are a couple of things I will do differently on the next in the series. I will be selling Epley look alikes I hope ! Today, I am having issues uploading photos to Blogger. I paid for additional storage space on the 26th but for some reason Blogger is still telling me I am "overdrawn" on storage space. I sent a message to Google - but we'll see what they say. Finding a "real" contact was not easy !

I would love to hear your comments though so please, if you have the time, have a look at Epleys full page on my web site. Click on the link & then click on the page entitled "Epley The Felted Crow". Don't forget that you can click on one of the photos to get a larger view! When I took Epley outside to photograph him today I was shocked to find that he drew a crowd of about 30 of his brethren. The 'caw-l' went out & crows came in from all over town to see who the intruder was! I though that perhaps that it been a fluke - so I tried it later in the afternoon - and lo and behold it happened again ! I am anxious to begin his nest mate - hummm I wonder if crows have mates?! Anyway, please have a look and let me know what you think !

Epley is very busy! My husband would tell you that crows are my favorite birds. I like to put stale bread out and watch them come in to eat. Crows are so smart! I can't wait to see the rest of your flock!

Epley is quite amazing, I thought he was a real one. I think crows are beautiful, but most of my friends disagree. They do not like the quilt bu laura/linda kemshall with crows on it, although they are just gorgeous...
And between the glass buttonshop and the yarn shop, you are a very lucky lady. Already waiting for the final buttons. And I can't resist a yarn shop, although they become rarer here.
Enjoy yourself!

I can see why he drew a crowd - he is very handsome! How have the cats reacted?

Well not being a fan of crows/black birds myself...I find that Epley is actually kind of cute. He is very lifelike and I can see why he attracted outside attention.

I thought he was real! Epley in the tree looks just like a real crow, especially with the glint in his eye.

Great job, Marie; how much fun to see him attract his cohorts!

A grouping of crows is called a "murder of crows". I tried to find the origin of this some years ago but was not really successful. Your crow is very lifelike...I thought that was a real one on the branch at first before I read the post. How fun!
