I was in the mood for a little artistic inspiration a couple of weeks ago. There is a dearth of available art classes where I live and so I decided to try an online class - my first ever online anything. Joggles.com has an interesting mix of class offerings and since I am truly amazed at how well Joggles seems to be run - and since they stock so many amazing things that I like to play with - I decided to try a class through them. The title of the class is "Personal Symbols" and it is taught by Susan Sorrell. I am thoroughly enjoying the exercises. The first few "tasks" were doodle exercises - perfect for me since I never considered my too good at doodling.....but boy ! am I enjoying it now. The photos above are a couple of the pages I did.
Below, is one of the colored paper doodles I decided to do - while the thought of a quilt began doodling itself through my consciousness.
This week's lesson - or is it last week's?! - began with painting on Lutradur. I just pulled out some of my old Deka paints and had lots of fun with this. Obviously, no strategy at all - which is the way I like to work. Next step is collaging onto this background (after cutting it to size if desired). Since i have never really done any collage it will be fun to try. That's my project for tomorrow - along with making another cell phone cover for a friend. I felted the fabric today using my amazing new machine needle felter from Pfaff. Life is sunny. Life is good.

Happy belated birthday! You certainly got some wonderful gifts.
Love your doodles - it's a useful exercise that I did once upon a time and it probably bears repeating. Thanks for sharing it.
I'm so glad you are sharing your experiences with this class. I've been considering it for a while. This session, though, I am taking Sue Bleiweiss' Mixed Media class and the Photoshop Elements class. I'm very excited about both of them.
Looks like you had a wonderful birthday Marie. Love the work you are doing now too.
