Birthday Blessings From Loved Ones

Yesterday was my birthday and it was wonderful ! The weather was sublime. Brilliant blue skies and perfect temperature - 78 degrees F ! I also became 10 years older than my mother was when she passed away 34 years ago tomorrow- a reminder of both how young she really was at the time and how short life is.

I received a bounty of gifts.

Mr. Jo, my wonderful spouse, gave me a Pfaff Smart P350 Needle Punching machine (aka needle felting machine) which I really like a lot ! I had the Bernina attachment for my QE153, and it works really well ,but I was concerned about how 'fluff" might affect the machine's works in the long run. I like the fact that I can have that attachment with me when I travel - but am happy to have a "stand-alone" machine. I love my special Orange Edition 153 and want to keep it as pristine as I can ! The Pfaff is really well made and has a closed mechanism that stores the lint in a tidy little drawer - keeping the works basically lint free. It's also VERY quiet and thanks to the 5 needle mechanism felts very quickly and easily. Mr. J also gave me an Apple Base Station - going wireless is just too great - and Apple Care is amazing (well worth the cost IMHO). I am a true Apple convert. I also got a wonderful selection of my favorite beverages (think Champagne) to go along with the sea scallops I had for dinner - no I did not try all of the selections in one evening !

My buddy Sarah gave me an amazing traveling art kit - here's a look at the goodies that it contained! She has a wonderful explanation it on her blog. I always look forward to Sarah's gifts - they are always imaginative and wonderful - just like she is !

Dearest Maria, gave me this incredible antique sampler - she found in her travels around Beaufort, North Carolina last month - when she also did the "Haunted Beaufort" tour that I would just LOVE to have been able to go on too ! Yes, that is my shadow on the sampler !

Lauren, dear Lauren - who is in the midst of a major move and multiple major changes in her life, gifted me with some amazing and inspiring books and, as if that was not enough, an overly generous gift certificate to EQuilter. She is one of those people who would give you the shirt off her back if she thought it would help you become the best that you can be. She has been my supporter, cheerleader and inspiration for almost 20 years .. and I am not sure where I would be without her belief in me ...

Ingrid- the writer emeritus and newly minted Master chick, sent me a gorgeous Irish Linen shirt. She is the one who made me a confirmed linen fan. I love the shirt - and have already worn and had to wash it it! Fabulous !

Dear Janet gave me - what else - fabric ! along with a wonderful handmade card !

My boss gave me an amazing silk scarf that she bought in one of my favorite cities in the world, Florence, Italy. It's shimmering shades of orange. Luxury at its finest ! My office mate Helen gave me one of Suze Orman's books - she knows I am a ninny about serious things like money !

It was a memorable birthday. Low key the way I like it and filled with not only material blessings, but the blessings of love and friendship that are the most treasured gifts of all. Thank You Loved Ones - for being in my life.
