At one point I had ,naively ,thought I would make a large rose garden. I adore roses - what can I say?! Unfortunately , care & love were no match for the vagaries of aging combined with rocky, clay-like soil and a lack of sufficient sun. My rose garden is, once again, just a dream, but I did manage to save one of my favorites. Rose DeRescht - an old world damask rose with a scent that is heady & heavenly. One rose can fill a whole room with it's perfume. Thankfully, the plant is settling into it's new home in a large pot along a warm- light facing- wall. It's happier now - and so is my back!
My good news is that I was accepted into the APNQ (Association of Pacific Northwest Quilters) show this August. I truly had not thought that my piece would be accepted so I was thrilled when I got the proverbial "fat envelope" yesterday. Somehow being accepted into your "home town" show is as exciting - if not more so - than even being accepted into Houston has been! WhooHooo ... It's hard for me to "toot" my own horn (something a friend says I need to get over) but I am really pleased & thank-full. My guardian angels are working over time on my behalf!
