Books & More Books: Inspiration & Information

I have a larger than usual stack of books on my night table this week. " A Perfect Red" is actually quite a riveting (at least to me it is!) tale about the amazing history of one of my favorite colors - red! Did you know ,for instance, that :
  • Red thread was used to ward off witches
  • The Druids considered red to be a mystical color
  • Red head were tho0ught to have a closer connection to the spirit world
  • During a German revolt in 1525 the peasants demanded the right to wear red
I have had to keep a notebook with me because this book is so full of amazing, interesting information. I am really enjoying this book! i found it at a quilt show in August - which I think is wonderful - what a great idea to sell a book about color at a place that surrounds you with it ! Now I just need to compile a reading list of historial books about color and I could be in reading heaven for quite awhile!

Do you ever feel that you head might explode because it simply cannot absorb any more information? That there is no way you can remember all of this? Well, guess what? You're right - you can't! That's some of the information that will be explained in " The Overflowing Brain". This is a book that I can't wait to get to - and I will get to it - right after I am done 'seeing red' !

Happy Sunday everyone!

Both of those sound like books that I would be interested in.

I bought A perfect red and Color: A Natural History of the Palette by Victoria Finlay, I am almost finished with Color:a natural history. Parts of it were really interesting and parts were a little slow. I also have started A perfect red and find it a far more entertaining read.
