I have been enjoying snagging great new recipes to try from other blogs recently. It seems like a nice thing to do during this season of friendship and goodwill. The following recipe makes THE BEST sugar cookies ever. The master baker, Trish Branstetter, gave it to me.
Makes 8-10 dozen
Bake at 350 F (176 C) for 8-10 minutes
1 C Powdered sugar
1 C Granulated sugar
1 C Butter
1 C Shortening (or you can just use 2 C of butter)
Cream all of the above together.
ADD
pinch of salt
2 eggs
2 teaspoons of vanilla
WHISK
1 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
1 tablespoon baking soda
4.5 C flour
Add slowly to the sugar mixture. Form into balls. I use a cookie scoop. Roll the balls in granulated sugar. Flatten the balls with the bottom of a glass. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.

Mmmm sounds yummy. Are they crispy or soft?
We're planning a cookie baking marathon the weekend before Christmas...I'm printing this one off.
