The Einstein coat by Sally Melville is my new large knitting project. I love this coat! I had wanted to make it in a lighter weight version. In fact, the book DOES show a lighter weight model but it does not have the same collar - which is one of the things I really like. I decided that I needed to make one according to the pattern and will then, hopefully, be able to figure out how I want to approach the lighter weight version with my favored collar. There is a lot of relatively boring knitting in the main pattern piece of this coat - just the thing for "tv knitting". I chose a fabulous, bulky yarn from Chuckanut Bay . It's an yummy Moss color. I've used this yarn before and have always had great results. The yarn does not come in a wide array of colors but the colors that it DOES come in are really nice & it also is available in two different weights. I stock up at our wonderful local yarn shop, Island Wools. By the way, if you are local & have not been in the shop for awhile - stop by. Julie's daughter, Rusty, has worked hard & has made some great changes in the shop. She has lots of great things planned too - and the stock has grown! I'll post more on this classic, stylish coat when I have soemthing more substantial to share! Have a wonderful weekend. Be well and be happy!
